Recap: Women in Computing Science at Orbis Investments
SFU WiCS teamed up with UBC WiCS for an afternoon at Orbis Investments to find out what working in tech at an investment firm actually looks like. The visit included a Women in Technology panel, an office tour, and time to network with the Orbis team.
The panel
We heard from Enas, Kim, and Keiko, who each shared their own perspective on working in tech at Orbis. Between the three of them, students got a range of insights on how they got to where they are, what their work looks like, and how technology supports the work of an investment firm. It was a great chance to see that there’s more than one path into this space.
The office tour
The Orbis team then showed us around the office, giving everyone a look at where the work happens and how the teams are set up day to day.
Networking
We wrapped up with networking, where students from both schools got to chat with Orbis employees, ask questions, and learn more about opportunities at the firm. Orbis is currently looking to connect with students interested in full-time roles and January-start internships, so if that sounds like you, it’s worth checking out their careers page.
